On the Living in the Countryside Day, you can discover the educational opportunities in Rõuge municipality – Rõuge Kindergarten, Rõuge Basic School, and Rõuge Youth Work Centre will all be welcoming visitors.

With its breathtaking nature, Rõuge has always inspired people to dive into tourism, and many of them are offering special experiences to make your day complete: hearty, authentic country food is served at PuhmaPuhvet, while Suur Muna cafe-restaurant offers cozy local flavors and has just opened accommodation in tiny houses. At Rõuge Ööbikuorg (Nightingale Valley), Rennehoov's delicious burgers await you. Feel free to also step into Vakari Holiday Farm and Haanjamehe Farm Hotel – see if one of these could become your next dream vacation destination or perhaps a partner for a future collaborative project.

Our map also features two unique museums – Mõniste Peasant Museum and the Telecom and Laptop Museum. The latter is run entirely as a passion project, where hobbies have found a unique expression that is sure to bring joy and nostalgia to every visitor.

Of course, it is highly recommended to step inside Rõuge Church – this beautiful church still unites families at life's most important moments and remains a highly popular venue for special events.

The doors of Rogosi Manor are also wide open for visitors on this day – perhaps this very place will inspire you to realize your next big dream. At Rogosi, you can also learn more about the possibilities and charms of community-based life in Rõuge municipality.

If you are specifically interested in the heart of Rõuge, Avo Eisen will be sharing fascinating stories about Rõuge's history, the Nightingale Valley, and its deep lakes at the Saarsilla Cafe on this day.

Additionally, two information meetings will take place during the day. At Suur Munamägi sightseeing tower's cafe, you can meet the tourism manager of Rõuge municipality between 10:00 and 15:00 to ask about the opportunities tourism has to offer in one of Estonia's most prominent rural tourism regions.

From 16:00 to 17:00, an information session about Rõuge municipality will take place at the Suur Muna cafe-restaurant in Haanja, where we will briefly introduce the municipality and answer all your questions about what it is truly like to live in our countryside.

Notably, the hosts of the Telecom and Laptop Museum, Haanjamehe Farm Hotel, and Rennehoov (operating at the Rõuge Nightingale Valley Visitor Centre) have all made a major turning point in their lives – moving from Tallinn to the countryside – and are happy to share their genuine experiences with you.

On the same day, the family of Nõlva Farm will also open their doors: "We are two young people who moved to the countryside two years ago. Since we felt that a farm isn't a real farm without farm animals, we have kept growing our herd." Today, Nõlva Farm is home to cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, and bees.

You can find the detailed program and schedules on the Living in the Countryside Day visitor map.

Come and see how people live in the countryside – for real!
