The Monument to the Estonian Mother is located in Rõuge borough and was unveiled on June 26, 2010. The monument was erected as a tribute to Estonian mothers — to their care, resilience, and vitality that have carried generations through time. It stands as a symbol of gratitude, strength, and maternal love.
Made of grey granite from Udmurtia, the monument is 3.6 metres high and weighs approximately 6 tonnes. The idea for the monument was created by Hans Sissas, while the designers were Ilme Kuld and Riho Kuld. The sculptors were Margus Kurvits and Kristjan Kittus.
As the monument is situated in a peaceful and scenic natural setting, it is an ideal place for quiet reflection or a photo stop.
